A fab and fun pair of Victorian studs set with colored green glass, emerald cut, in a gold prong setting. The posts and backs are gold plated silver. A very cool pair of studs, with loads of character.
- The studs are in great condition, one of the paste stones does have a chip on one of the sides. It can be seen on the second picture.
- They measure 1 cm by 8 mm.
Paste stones simulate the fire and brilliance of gemstones, from a very early period the imitation of gems was attempted. The Romans in particular were very skillful in the production of colored glass pastes, they copied especially emerald and lapis lazuli.
